Korean Criminal Record Check Procedure
● Non-immigration (to Canada) purpose
In order to obtain Republic of
Korea criminal record check for those who had lived in Korea, the following items must first be presented to the Embassy to get an authorization stamp:
1. A completed application form with a colour photo attached
2. A photocopy of the information page of the applicant’s passport
After the stamped documents are returned to you, they need to be sent to the Republic of Korea National Police Agency, which will perform the criminal record check. Along with the application form and passport copy, you must include a return, self-addressed envelope with 5 “international reply coupons,” available from Canada Post. The items should be sent to the following address:

● Immigration (to Canada) purpose
In order to obtain Criminal History Information Record (Bumjoi Gyung-ryuck, Soosa Gyung-ryuck Jo Hoi Hoibi-Seo) for whose who had lived in Korea and intend to apply a permanent residency to Canada, they can delegate the authority to a representative (a family member or a friend) in Korea by:
1. Fill out Power of Attorney and get it notarized by a lawyer or a notary public in Canada
2. Get a consular seal on notarized Power of Attorney from Korean Embassy or the near Consular General of Korea in Canada
3. Send it to the representative in Korea let them to obtain the Criminal History Information Record on behalf of you.
Criminal History Information Record is issued only in Korean so it is recommended to get a certified translation to English in Korea.
